Hello, and welcome to my blog! Creating a blog for veterinary practice managers has been a dream of mine for a few years now. It’s crazy to think I joined the veterinary industry 23 years ago as a kennel technician. I had no idea I would be where I am after all these years. Sometimes I have to pinch myself because it does truly feel like a dream. The path I went down had an incredible amount of support, plenty of struggles, and an enormous amount of growth.  Pepper in meeting people that I will call friends for the rest of my life.

Where it all started

Like most that start out in this industry I loved animals and wanted to get my foot in the door. I started as a kennel technician but wanted to be a veterinary technician so badly.  I was able to get a job at a practice right down the road from my childhood home. It was perfect and I spent many years of my career within those walls. After a couple of weeks I was promoted to veterinary assistant and as they say “the rest is history.”  I didn’t only fall in love with the veterinary industry and the business side, I fell in love creating a great environment in veterinary practices.  A place where I am able to coach the people within the industry and help them reach their full potential in their personal life and career.

This is what dreams are made of….

Fast forward to today.  I spend my time coaching veterinary practice managers and teams about veterinary business, creating positive workplace cultures, and managing their teams.  Now add to that helping foreign veterinarians and well, any veterinarian that wants to realize the “American Dream” and work toward their license and practice ownership in this country.  Seven years ago I met my now partner and his wife.  They are both from Cuba and truly changed my life forever.  It has been almost one year since my husband and I and my partners took the leap and purchased a veterinary practice together.  We are having so much fun!  We intend to grow and expand and help as many people in this industry as possible!

Struggle · Support · Grow

Looking back on my journey so far it is pretty surreal. The path was not always smooth and it was full of “oh s***” that didn’t work moments.  I had mentors along the way that I will never be able to repay.  Without them I wouldn’t have been able to make some of my career or personal dreams come true. My goal of this blog is to share the raw, unfiltered truth of how I achieved the things I have in my career and personal life.  I look forward to sharing tools, tips, and resources to maybe make your path a little more smooth.  All the while celebrating victories and sharing stories about life in the industry that I love so much!

I feel so blessed to have met so many wonderful people. I look forward to growing my network and friends.  I’m eternally inspired to help more fellow colleagues. Whether it’s teaching you about inventory management, how to navigate a tough conversation, or just get through a rough day. I’m excited to take you on this journey with me and be a small part of yours.  Let’s grow our network and stick together through this veterinary practice manager blog`!
